Haryana, Uttranchal joining hands for agro, power sectors

Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday said his state and Uttranchal could undertake joint ventures in power generation, agriculture and education.
Speaking to reporters at village Badripur near Bajpur in Uttranchal, Hooda said Haryana was already buying power from Uttranchal and was exploring the possibility of setting up a joint venture hydel power project. Similar possibilities could be explored in agriculture and technical education, apart from making joint efforts to reduce unemployment. The Haryana government want farmers to diversify their interests from the wheat-rice cycle which, could enable them to increase their income. He said, the Centre had introduced ambitious programmed like National Horticulture Mission to accelerate the pace of development in specific areas. Similar programmes for rural electrification and health have been introduced. He also said the Centre was providing facilities in rural areas at par with those in urban areas. Replying to a question on setting up of an atomic power generation plant in Haryana, Hooda said a site had already been identified at the Kumhariah village in Fatehabad district and that, Nuclear Power Generation Corporation was taking steps to implement the project.
Hooda said the demand of the people to have state roadways buses ply up to Bajpur or to further destinations via Bajpur from Haryana would be considered. He said being laid on generating ample employment opportunities. An education city of international standards was being developed at Kundli.
